Car Insurance Kia (Car Insurance). Manuel m5 engine(s62) swapped into 540 which was auto (m62tu) possible???Manuel m5 engine(s62) swapped into 540 which was auto (m62tu) possible??? Ok so we all know m5's are fast as they come and the 540 is the lil brother. But cant i just take the m5 engine s62 and swapp it with the 540 (m62) They would both be e39s so its seems simple right,? Does it matter the m5 engine came from a manuel trans and now it would be on an auto transmission? You'd somehow need to reprogram the M5 ECU to accept an automatic transmission, which would require a lot of R&D since it's never been done. That's the biggest hurdle. Besides that you might blow up the transmission because it was designed for a lot less torque throughput. Ask yourself why you're doing this. Do you just want an automatic M5 without all of the suspension and stuff? Why don't you just have an automatic 540i supercharged? You'd achieve the same result with much less work and much less degradation of the car's value. Most importantly, you'd have fewer places to screw up, a good number of which were already covered by "Punctuate Properly". You would need to remove it's manual flywheel, and fit the starter-motor ring-gear and hook up everything that was connected to the engine that left the auto-trans car. Make sure the wiring is correct, and of course, the black-boxes which control ignition and fuel-injection, or you will be trying to run a bigger engine on the system from the smaller engined car! Kia . How to Change Oil in a Duramax Diesel EngineChanging the oil on any vehicle should be routine maintenance and the Chevy Duramax Diesel is no different. You will need more oil than the standard car needs, and a larger filter, but the process is pretty much the same. You have a few choices for oil, so check your owners manual and see what is recommended for your model. You can get the oil and filter at your local auto parts store or at the dealer. You will also need a larger drain pan than you use for your car because the Duramax holds 10.5 quarts of oil. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stands Oil drain pan or bucket Socket set Oil filter wrench Oil filter Torque wrench Oil Step by Step : 1 Start the engine on your truck to let it warm up a little, then shut it off. You don't want it so hot that you get burned, but you want the oil warm enough to easily flow out of the pan. Remove the keys after you shut it off so that no one accidentally starts it while you are working on it. 2 Raise the front of the truck with a jack and support it on a set of jack stands. These are big trucks, so be sure you use stands that are rated for the weight of the truck. Chock the rear wheels to avoid the truck rolling or moving while you are under it. 3 Slide the drain pan under the oil pan drain plug located on the bottom of the pan. Loosen the drain plug using a socket and ratchet then turn the plug by hand, allowing the oil to drain into the pan. 4 Locate the oil filter on the engine block. You will find it on the passenger's side of the block above the pan. Loosen the filter with a filter wrench by turning it counter-clockwise. It may leak a little around the gasket as it is loosened so be sure to have your drain pan under it as it is removed. 5 Unscrew the filter by hand until it comes off the engine. Drop it straight down, keeping the top up to avoid oil spilling all over you, the truck and the ground. 6 Remove the new filter from the packaging and coat the rubber gasket with fresh oil. This will help it seal against the block when installed. Fill the filter with fresh oil to avoid running the engine dry on start up after you complete the oil change. 7 Install the filter by lifting it up into place and screwing it in using your hands. The filter only needs to be hand tight. 8 Reinstall the drain plug into the oil pan and tighten it until snug. Torque the drain plug to manufacturers specifications. These vary depending on the vehicle year, so check your owners manual or service manual for the correct specs for your truck. 9 Fill the engine with fresh oil until the dipstick indicates that it is full. Duramax Diesel engines hold between 10 and 10.5 quarts of oil with the filter. Once the engine is full, start it and let it run for two to three minutes to let the new oil circulate through the block. Step by Step : 10 Dispose of the old oil and filter by taking them to an approved oil recycling station or your local parts store if they offer this service. Tips & Warnings Always use an oil specified for diesel motors in the Duramax. Never use an oil filter wrench to tighten the new filter. If you over-tighten the filter, it will become very difficult to remove the next time you change your oil.
Kia . What Kind of Oil Should Be Used in a Diesel Engine?Diesel engines need a high viscosity oil or a synthetic oil . Since these engines combust at much higher compression ratio than gasoline engines, the oil used in the motor has to be able to withstand tremendous forces, usually of 40,000 to 50,000 psi. Most newer diesel engines will recommend 15W-40 because it is heavier and thicker. Function Oil is used to lubricate the pistons as these are pushed into the combustion chamber and return downward to the crankcase. Diesel engines typically turn at a lower rate than a gasoline motor, but create greater pressure. Heavier oils last longer and can withstand the workload created by the diesel motor. Considerations Synthetic oils can also be used in a diesel motor. 5W-40 synthetic can be used in most newer motors with equivalent or better results than a regular 15W-40 oil. Synthetic oils are more expensive, but provide additional protection against motor wear and tear. Oil Changes Synthetic oils still have to be changed. Follow the car manufacturer's recommended mileage for changing the oil. Always remember to change the oil filter as well as the engine oil. Most diesel motors recommend changing the oil every 5,000 miles. Benefits of synthetic oil Synthetic oils can lower the exhaust gas temperatures(EGT) in a diesel by a significant amount. Lower EGT means the engine can operate at maximum efficiency and create less heat, which can reduce damage and wear to vital motor parts. A normal operating temperature for a diesel should be around 500 degrees, rising to about 1000 degrees under acceleration. Facts A diesel engine is less volatile and burns at a lower temperature than a gas motor. This is the reason that high exhaust temperatures are so dangerous. The turbo on a diesel motor filters air and compresses it before forcing it into the combustion chamber to mix with diesel fuel and power the motor. *Rear coil springs have rubber bushings to cushion Control arm bushings (lower) them. u* Torsion bars: These are a popular type of spring used on the fronts of many sport-utility vehicles and trucks. They usually run parallel to the frame and are attached to the control arm at one end and the cross member at the other end (see Figure 16-9). Torsion bar springs require no lubrication. Most are adjustable, meaning that if your vehicle is sitting too high or low, you can make an adjustment by turning an adjusting bolt. *<* Air springs: These are filled with the right amount of compressed air to control the ride and maintain the proper height. A computer monitors the ride height and signals an on-board air compressor to pump more air into the air springs whenever weight is added to the vehicle. When the weight is removed, the computer turns on an exhaust solenoid to let air out of the air springs (see Figure 16-10). Usually, there's nothing to lubricate with air springs. But check with the dealer to find out whether it's okay to apply a rubber conditioner to the air bags to prevent them from wearing out prematurely. Taking care of the stabilizers Stabilizers keep the passenger part of the vehicle from swaying and lurching on sharp curves and turns and when the wheels are traveling over uneven ground (a better solution than the legendary mountain goat that had shorter legs on one side than on the other for traveling along slopes!). There are various kinds of stabilizers, but all you need to know is that you can lubricate the rubber parts yourself. Chapter 16: Lubrication Extends the Life of Your Vehicle 784

Dodge Ram 1500 Mega Cab. * work. 2 CA Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System Dealing urith shocks and struts Located near each wheel, shock absorbers do most of the work of protecting the passenger compartment from bumps. Chapter 11 provides details about shock absorbers that are worth reviewing before you read this section. Many vehicles are equipped with MacPherson strut suspension instead of conventional shocks. This simplified and improved system takes up less space and Is well worth having. The downside is that because MacPherson struts are surrounded by, and assembled with, the suspension springs, they're always under spring pressure and therefore must be replaced professionally. You may be taking your life in your hands if you tamper with them. (Chapter 11 has information and illustrations of MacPherson and other strut systems.) You can tell whether your vehicle needs new shock absorbers by leaning heavily on a fender or placing your weight on a bumper and then releasing it suddenly, watching to see whether the vehicle returns slowly to its original position. If it continues to bob up and down, you need new shocks. Another way is to stop fairly short. If your car dips up and down a couple of times before coming to rest, you need new shocks. Bad shock absorbers increase tire wear and can cause you to lose control of the steering if you go over bumps and dips at high speeds. If any of these things seems to be happening to you, have your shocks replaced. Although replacing standard shock absorbers isn't hard, the job can be brutal if you have to jack up your vehicle and crawl under it. Unless you can replace them under supervision on the lift at an auto class, I strongly recommend having a professional do it for you. To save money, buy the shocks yourself and pay a professional to install them. The store will know what type of suspension system your vehicle has and what kind of shocks it needs. Within limits, you do have a choice: "Heavyduty" shocks provide a slightly harder ride; other shocks may not do as well with the entire family and two Great Danes in the car, but give a softer ride. Some shocks even provide automatic level control for vehicles that carry loads ranging from very heavy to almost weightless. Suit yourself. Chapter 17 Kia . Can the cam sensor make a car turn off?
